Gem::Ext::BuildError: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension

Have new laptop, fresh install of OS (LinuxMint 18.1). Installed rvm and ruby 2.4.0

Have used Middleman (MM) with success and delight for several years, but I’m a psychotherapist not a CS professional. I am encountering an error in the MM install process that is way over my head to fix.
